Games such as Doom, Quake, and Half-Life pushed the boundaries of what was possible with technology, and helped to establish the first-person shooter genre. The 2000s saw the rise of online gaming, with games such as World of Warcraft and Call of Duty becoming household names.    

In recent years, video games have become a part of modern culture. With the rise of mobile gaming, the popularity of consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox, and the emergence of virtual reality, video games are now enjoyed by people of all ages and from all walks of life. At present time, video games like- PUBG, FIFA etc. have evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry, and have cemented themselves as a staple form of entertainment.

No age limit to enjoy video games
On the positive side, video games have been shown to improve cognitive function, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, it has no injury risks and also no tiredness. They can also be a great way to relieve stress, provide a sense of accomplishment, remove boredom, can be played with friends and people of all ages can enjoy video games.

On the other hand, playing video games can have negative effects on one's physical and mental health if done excessively. Prolonged periods of sitting in front of a screen can lead to physical health problems such as obesity, back pain, and eye strain. Additionally, video game addiction can lead to neglecting responsibilities and social relationships. Excessive gaming can also lead to reduced quality of sleep and increased levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, violent or aggressive games may desensitize players to violence and aggressive behavior, potentially leading to real-life aggression or desensitization to violence.

                 



Worldwide E-sports participation 
One of the most significant developments in the world of video games in recent years has been the rise of e-sports. E-sports, or competitive video gaming, has exploded in popularity and is now considered a legitimate sport in its own right. The growth of e-sports has resulted in the creation of professional leagues and tournaments, with players earning millions of dollars in prize money.
