Journey through Padma Bridge
Padma Bridge is one of the most prominent and spectacular structures in Bangladesh, connecting the south western part of the country to the capital, Dhaka. My home district is in Faridpur .After constructing this bridge I travelled there through this bridge. Now I am sharing my experience while using this bridge.
The bridge is a sight to behold, with its sleek design and beautiful architecture. We started our journey from Dhaka , the bustling capital city of Bangladesh. It was around 8 AM in the morning I along with my family had started our journey. We were so excited to enjoy the stunning beauty of the bridge. The journey took around 2 hours but the scenic beauty and lash greenery along the way made it seem like a shorter journey.
As we approached the bridge, I could not help but feel overwhelmed by its sheer size and grandeur. The route to the bridge passes through the beautiful landscapes and rural areas and small towns . The roads are well maintained and provide a smooth ride. The bridge spams through the mighty river Padma, which is the largest river in Bangladesh. The bridge is 6.15 km long and 18.10 meters wide which is the longest bridge in Bangladesh.
As we drove across the bridge , the breathtaking views of the river and the surrounding landscape left us awe. The bridge is surrounded by vast expanses of water on both sides and the view of the distance horizon is simply stunning. We could feel the gentle breeze from the river and see the clear blue water below. The view is magnificent and one cannot help but marvel at the engineering feat of the bridge. The bridge has two level , with the lower level is reserved for trains and the upper level for vehicles.
We got off our vehicle on the bridge and the experience of walking on the bridge was exhilarating. We took a break at bridge`s viewing platform to enjoy the spectacular view and take some memorable photos . Though we cannot spend much more time there but we have a memorable memory.
My experiences with being on the highways in Bangladesh have almost always been met with broken roads, speeding buses on the opposite lane and traffic during the vacation season. But Padma Bridge is built with finesse, and a lot of thought. The road leading up to the toll plaza of the bridge itself is large and expansive and we faced no congestion on our way to the bridge. The other bridges leading to and from after the Padma Bridge have also been cleaned up and they all felt like an extension of the bridge itself. The best way I could describe it is as if watching videos of cars on European highways, except living it for myself.
Previously , it took 5 hours to reach there but now it take only 3 hours to reach my home town. It has reduce travel time cost and provide more opportunity to the trade and commerce. The bridge has improve the lives of the south-western people by connecting them to the rest of Bangladesh.
In conclusion, Padma Bridge is a must do for anyone visiting in Bangladesh. The bridge offers a stunning view of the Padma river and the journey through the bridge is equally beautiful.
