Exploring AI: History, Types, and Impact on Society
We, humans, are the greatest being on planet earth. Because we have thinking and decision-making capability. But now the time has come to pass this ability to machines which we call Artificial Intelligence.
So, what
is AI? It is a computer system that can perform tasks requiring
human intelligence, visual perception, speech recognition,decision-making,
and translation between languages. But it doesn't need to confine itself to biologically observable methods.
The term Artificial Intelligence was 1st introduced in 1956. John McCarthy was an American Computer scientist. He was one of the founders of the discipline of AI. Arthur Samuel was an American pioneer in the field of computer gaming and AI. He popularized the term ‘Machine Learning’ in 1959. The Samuel checkers playing program was among the world’s first successful self-learning programs. Samuel was most known for his work in computer checkers. The Turing test is a method of inquiry in AI for determining whether or not a computer is capable of thinking like a human being. The test is named after Alan Turing, who is the founder of the Turing test and a computer scientist.
History of artificial intelligence
Reactive machine: AI has divided into four main types and one of them is a reactive machine. These machines do not remember the past and can’t use past experiences to help the present.
Autonomous vehicle: Some automotive industries are using AI to provide better performance to the virtual user. Such as, Tesla has introduced Tesla-bot, an intelligent virtual assistant. Also, Toyota, Audi, and Volvo use AI to train computers to think and evolve.
Digital services: Digital marketing and AI go hand in hand. In digital marketing, there are a ton of data to process. AI helps digital marketers to process data faster which helps them to create digital strategies more efficiently.
Neural networking: A neural network is an operating system which means mimics the human brain. It is also used in financial services, fraud detection, and marketing research.
Self-aware AI: The final type of AI where the machines are aware of themselves. But this AI is yet to develop. If it is created then we will witness a robot with human-level consciousness and intelligence.
Types of Artificial Intelligence
Despite the benefits of AI, there are also concerns about its impact on society. One of the most significant challenges facing the AI industry is ensuring that these systems are reliable and safe. AI algorithms are only as good as the data they are trained on, and if the data is biased, the AI system will also be biased. There are also concerns about the impact of AI on jobs and the economy, as many tasks that were previously performed by humans can now be automated.
AI must be used in good hands otherwise it will create disaster. It requires mutual communication between the government and industry to establish guidelines for the development of AI. It needs to be tested so that the public can understand how AI systems work and how they are being used.
To sum up, AI is rapidly developing day by day. With the right decision, it will become a beacon for mankind to update in the coming years. However, it also presents significant challenges that must be addressed to ensure that it is developed and used in a responsible and ethical manner.
